The International Space Station Program Science Forum

The International Space Station (ISS) is a scientific platform that enables researchers to do experiments in low Earth orbit. Researchers from all over the world, share a unified goal – to extend knowledge for the betterment of humanity.
There are many ways to benefit life on Earth: images assist disaster relief, lives have been saved, new materials improve products, educational programs inspire future scientists, engineers and space explorers. Over 40 million students have participated in interactive experiments or have communicated with those on board of the ISS.
Research in human physiology encourages the development of new medical technology. The LASIK eye surgery and the use of the robotic neuroArm in delicate brain surgery, serve as examples.
Other projects include vaccine developments, growing high-quality protein crystals, testing cancer fighting drugs, studying crop growth aboard a space station, designing solar powered water filtration systems, breast-cancer detection and treatment technology and improving indoor air quality.
