What is a Geographical Information System (GIS) (2/4)
The second video in this four-part series tries to develop an understanding of the data that underlies a GIS. To do this it looks at how the data is accessed, captured and the sources of data. All the relevant information (spatial data &/or attribute data) about the objects on the ground that we'll need to help solve our specific problem. How the information is displayed via different structures: raster (information captured as a cell or pixels in a photo image) and vector (information translated into lines) and how the software interpreting the information (raster or vector) will display.
