Creative arts: Dance Developing a Movement Vocabulary
Exploring the eight basic locomotor movements: walk, run, skip, gallop, hop, leap, jump and slide. The best way for learners to learn about and understand the differences between locomotors is to practise them.
Also exploring Axial movements (non-locomotor movements). The use of visual imagery helps the learners with their explorations. If they can compare a movement to something they know of in their everyday lives, they have a starting point for exploring.
