What is the indaba about?
The Western Cape Education Department (WCED) is proud to host the Grade R Indaba on Saturday, 17 May, as part of its strategic focus on strengthening Grade R in 2025. Recognizing that Grade R plays a critical role in laying the building blocks for formal learning, the Indaba will highlight the importance of foundational skills taught at this level, which are essential for learners to succeed in Grade 1 and beyond. The event will feature a range of expert-led presentations and discussions aimed at enhancing the quality of teaching and learning in Grade R classrooms. All presentations and the full programme will be made available on this page to support continuous professional development and to promote best practices in early childhood education.
