About Dawn Cozett

Dawn Cozett is the Deputy Chief Education Specialist for Grade R at the Western Cape Education Department. She has been afforded the opportunity to give insight to Grade R Subject Development on National level.

Her teaching career started 35 years ago in the fishermen’s village of Houtbay in Cape Town where she outlived her passion of working with young children and their parents.

She obtained her Masters’ Degree in Education which focussed on the empowering of parents of Grade R learners through a seven-week Home-School Partnership Programme. She is also the editor of a South African Journal on Childhood Education. Dawn has presented at several university student and post graduate conferences.

Her passion for working with young children has afforded her an accolade in the South African Heroes’ campaign on the local e-TV channel. Dawn’s motto is to strive for excellence and to ‘never give up’.
