About Wedaad Esau
Wedaad Esau is an extremely passionate Foundation Phase teacher. She is dedicated to helping children reach their full potential, especially in reading for comprehension. Wedaad witnessed how struggles with reading have an impact on a child's mental and emotional well-being.
After incorporating and promoting the Science of Reading in her classroom since 2020, she observed notable improvements in reading skills among her students and how this went on to impact their self-belief.
She is currently a grade 2 teacher at Jamaica Weg Primary School in Mitchell's Plain. She’s participated in numerous Science of Reading workshops and courses. She attended the Reading for Meaning conference in Pretoria earlier this year, as well as the WCED Management and Leadership Strategic Planning event.
