2025 BOT GET Intervention Strategy

The Back on Track Programme, an ambitious initiative by the Western Cape Education Department, was launched in May 2023 to confront the substantial learning setbacks inflicted by the COVID-19 pandemic. In its inaugural phase, the programme reached 333 schools, targeting Grades 1, 4, 7, and 8, with a primary focus on mitigating learning losses in Languages and Mathematics. Moving into 2025, the programme is poised for significant expansion, with plans to incorporate Social Sciences and Natural Sciences & Technology from Term 1. This broadened approach underscores the programme's commitment to strengthening core competencies and bridging learning gaps across a wider selection of subjects.
