Biography of Ms. Lisa Wingham
Educator, Trainer & Advocate for Purposeful Play

About Ms. Lisa Wingham:

With over two decades of experience spanning early childhood development to intermediate phase teaching, Lisa Wingham brings an intuitive, hands-on approach to education that bridges the classroom, community, and real life. Now serving as the Head of Education and Training at ORT SA CAPE, she designs and delivers teacher development programmes that empower educators working in under-resourced areas—transforming how children learn through creativity, connection, and play. Lisa holds a Diploma in Foundation Phase Education and a Further Diploma in Art and Drama and has taught every grade from ECD to Grade 5. Her most profound insights, however, have often come not from textbooks but from raising her three children—including one with learning barriers—alongside her husband of nearly 20 years. It is this blend of professional expertise and personal experience that informs her powerful, compassionate voice in the education sector.

A former Thinking Schools coordinator and motivational speaker, Lisa is passionate about educator wellbeing and believes that teacher burnout is one of the greatest threats to long term systemic change. She speaks candidly and inspiringly about the need for self-care, community, and continual growth in the teaching profession. As a lifelong learner with a curious mind, Lisa explores the intersections of education, technology, and self-development. Whether she's leading a workshop on learning through play, supporting teachers in remote communities, or experimenting with new tools like AI and digital storytelling, her mission remains the same: to help others learn bravely, teach boldly, and live with purpose.
