Biography of Ms. Sandra Rossouw

About Ms. Sandra Rossouw:

Our mission is to improve the quality of teaching and learning of the Sciences, Language, Mathematics and the Environment. We support teachers in their professional development through training, coaching/mentorship and resourcing. We advocate for the development of best practice models for primary school teaching. I am the Rural Coordinator for the Primary Science Programme and also the facilitator for Intersen Science and Foundation Phase Maths. I have been working in the Overberg District for the past 13 years.

And previously I worked in the Cape Winelands District for about 10 years. Thus, building up a good relationship with a lot of our Rural teachers. Having been thrown into the deep end myself, while I was a teacher with a multigrade class, I quickly realized what a huge challenge it was to attend to all the grades, not to mention the curriculum and admin challenges. With PSP teacher materials, the scaffolding of the curriculum is so much clearer and the worked out practical lesson plan ideas makes planning for different grades easy. I gladly share that with all my teachers. Our vision: Excellent primary schooling for all South Africa’s children, where all educators are highly skilled, committed and confident, and are well prepared and resourced to teach.
