#1MillionMaths challenge

The challenge, which is now in its sixth year, aims to encourage learners to start preparing for end-of-year exams by practising on Siyavula. Learners and teachers opt in to the challenge, and can win prizes for their activity: learners by practising, and teachers by encouraging their learners to be active on the platform.

To help teachers encourage activity, we have created revision assignments that they can send out to their learners (these are based on the CAPS curriculum, and cover work from Terms 1-3, and all work in the case of the Grade 12s), and we will also be providing them with practical ideas on how to get improve learner activity during the month. We will be doing a daily draw for teachers who have a threshold percentage of learners active, or whose learners have completed the revision assignments. More details on how the challenge works can be found here.

At the end of the challenge, we will be awarding the top schools and grades for their activity during #1MillionMaths. And the challenge closes with our final showdown: any learner who has reached our Platinum league on the leaderboards (which equates to a mastery level of at least 75% on our platform) will be invited to join the final showdown. This will take the form of an assignment on our platform. The winners of the final showdown will be announced as the #1MillionMaths champions for 2022 (one for each grade and subject).
