
Biography of Dr. Jurie Joubert

About Mr. Bertram J Loriston:
Dr. Jurie Jacobus Joubert is a renowned South African educationist and historian with over five decades of experience in teaching, research, and academic leadership. After serving as a Sub-Lieutenant in the SA Navy and a Lieutenant in the SA Police, he transitioned into education, earning a Primary Education Diploma (cum laude), an MA (cum laude), and a D.Phil in History from UNISA.
Dr. Joubert lectured at teacher training institutions and served as a senior lecturer at CPUT, later becoming Director of the Centre for Multi-grade Education (CMGE), a pioneering initiative supported by the Netherlands embassy. His work focused on rural and multi-grade education, where he became a national and international authority, widely published in academic journals and newspapers, and frequently invited to deliver papers globally.
He has supervised numerous postgraduate students, led influential rural education projects, and inspired stakeholders across Africa through his deep commitment to disadvantaged schools and learners. Esteemed by UNESCO, the Commonwealth, and fellow academics, Dr. Joubert is celebrated for his visionary leadership, ground-level involvement, and lifelong dedication to transforming education in under-resourced communities.
