Biography of Ms. Nadiema Gamieldien

About Ms. Nadiema Gamieldien:

Our mission is to improve the quality of teaching and learning of the Sciences, Language, Mathematics and the Environment. We support teachers in their professional development through training, coaching/mentorship and resourcing. We advocate for the development of best practice models for primary school teaching. I am the Cluster co-ordinator for the Primary Science Programme and also the science facilitator for Intersen and Foundation Phase Life Skills (Beginning Knowledge) facilitator in the Foundation Phase. I am also mentoring Novice teachers, intensively over a period of two years. I have been working in the most districts across the Western Cape for the past 20 years. Over the years, I was able to build good relationship with teachers in both phases. This enabled me to see the progression of concepts and content of science across the grades and phases, as well as all the challenges teachers are facing daily.

With PSP teacher materials, the scaffolding of the curriculum is so much clearer and the worked out practical lesson plan ideas makes planning for different grades easy. I gladly share that with all my teachers. Our vision: Excellent primary schooling for all South Africa’s children, where all educators are highly skilled, committed and confident, and are well prepared and resourced to teach.
