About Ms Tami-Lee van Reenen:

Tami-Lee van Reenen is a dedicated school principal and a final year master’s student in Education at Stellenbosch University. She leads Uitnood Primary School in between Roberson and McGregor, a rural multi-grade school in the Cape Winelands, where she actively works to transform teaching and learning under challenging conditions. Appointed as principal at the age of 24, she is recognised for her leadership, passion for literacy, and commitment to equity in education.

Her academic research focuses on reading comprehension strategies in multi-grade classrooms—an area deeply informed by her daily experience in a real-world, under-resourced context. Through this work, she seeks to empower teachers and improve reading outcomes for learners in diverse, multi-grade learning environments. Guided by the Western Cape Education Department’s mantra, “Enter to Learn, Leave to Serve,” Tami-Lee leads with purpose, believing in the power of education to uplift individuals and communities. She represents a new generation of women in education—bold, resilient, and dedicated to service-driven leadership.
