About Gary Powell

Gary Powell is a Senior Education Specialist at the Schools Development Unit at UCT. He has 20+yrs of teacher education development experience. Teaches on Advanced Certificate qualification programmes, as well as short courses. Active in course and qualification development.

He is also a commentator, and contributor to curriculum review. Presently manages data collection for a major research project. Current studies in MEd in Mathematics with a special focus on geometry. His specific interests are in spatial reasoning within the context of school mathematics from Early Childhood Development to Senior Phase levels. Gary is most happy teaching, lecturing, or facilitating workshops. He is intrigued by the pre-mathematical knowledges upon which conceptions in space and number are potentially built.
