About Kutala Mlonyeni
Kutala Mlonyeni believes that teaching is very important as it not only imparts knowledge but also supports career opportunities, fosters personal growth, nurtures critical thinking and social development. Her career started as being in contract positions as Foundation phase educator from 2003-2007 in different primary schools of Western Cape. In 2007 she got a permanent position as a Foundation phase educator at Lwandle Primary School.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, she had to resign in 2014 and was re-employed at Sonwabo Primary School in 2015, where she also taught Grades 1 to 3. She has a vast knowledge in primary school teaching as she spent 20 years teaching in the Foundation phase. I had a diploma in the Intermediate phase and decided to persuade an HDE in the Foundation phase at Cape Peninsula University of Technology in 2019 and completed it in 2022.
Whilst teaching as a Foundation Phase educator, she adopted different teaching styles to achieve great results and learner’s success. This helped her to facilitate and guide her learners by creating an environment that encourage exploration, discovery and give learners the platform to express themselves as their development encompasses not only academic skills but also emotional, social, physical, and creative aspects.
She played a very big role in the improvement of the systemic results to 100% in Mathematics and 85% in Languages. In 2019 she was awarded the best Teacher of the year and continuous achievement in systemic results. She has been acting as a Departmental Head in Foundation Phase since 2019. She is also a Lead teacher in her District. She is not only focusing on school activities, but also run after school care and a feeding scheme in the neighborhood to help those in need.
